Questions and answers (FAQ)

Answers to your most frequently asked questions (FAQ)

1. I'm interested in a custom orthosis/prosthesis. What should I do next?

First, ideally contact us either by phone or email, where you'll describe in detail what troubles your furry friend (e.g., any ailments or surgical procedures they've undergone – you can also send us a medical report from the veterinarian) and which product you're interested in. If possible, please also send us current photos showing the area of the body that needs support, or a video of your pet in motion. We'll then get back to you and either ask for a few more details to supplement, or we'll provide you with a preliminary solution proposal and further steps.

2. What is the price of your prostheses and orthoses?

Prices are listed for each product. If any extra modifications are needed, prices may vary slightly.

3. What are your payment terms?

Payment for the production of your mobility aid needs to be sent before the manufacturing process begins. Since it's a custom-made product and cannot be offered to another candidate in case of withdrawal, as it won't fit and meet their anatomical needs, the full amount must be paid in advance. If we don't receive payment, we cannot initiate the production of your mobility aid.

4. How long does it take to make the prosthetics / orthoses?

We strive for the earliest possible delivery. We process individual orders sequentially, according to their order. If there are no delays, we aim to manufacture your aid within a maximum of 4 weeks. We regularly update our clients on the progress of production.

5. What if the prosthesis/orthosis doesn't fit as it should?

We pride ourselves on ensuring that our products fit your dog perfectly. However, it may happen that some minor adjustments are needed. In human prosthetics, it's quite common for the prosthesis to be adjusted multiple times to fit the individual perfectly, and we approach it the same way. If necessary in your case, additional adjustments are included in the price, and there is a 2-month period for resolving the correct fit. We stay in touch with you throughout the process and appreciate any feedback, technical remarks, photos, or videos. Only through this continuous communication can we achieve satisfaction on both sides, and your companion will joyfully enjoy movement in the aid.

6. Is your equipment suitable for maximum loads?

Our mobility aids, such as orthoses and prostheses, have been designed for durability and have been thoroughly tested in demanding conditions, including walking and hydrotherapy rehabilitation. Nevertheless, it is important to remember that these aids are not designed for maximum loading. A dog with a disability, such as a leg amputation, is not completely healthy and care must be taken to avoid overloading it. Therefore, our aids are designed for light loads only to promote safe and effective rehabilitation without unnecessary risk to the animal.

7. What is the warranty period?

The warranty period for our prostheses / orthoses is 2 years from the delivery of the product. The customer will receive a handover report and a protocol on how to properly care for the device. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear on the product due to improper handling etc.

8. Do you provide subsequent servicing of the aid, or repairs if needed?

Yes, of course. If your gadget needs to be replaced or repaired, don't hesitate to contact us. If you arrange the repair yourself with another manufacturer or repair the aid yourself, you will lose the full warranty from us (this applies if the aid is still under warranty).

9. Do the products have spare parts that can be replaced quickly?

Yes, we manufacture our products in such a way that the parts are easily replaceable and can be replaced by almost anyone at home. We consider the following parts as spare parts: clamping straps, screws, soles. If you need to replace a part, please contact us at info@animal-prosthetics.com and we will send everything to your address. You do not need to return the product to us. You can replace everything from the comfort of your home.

10. Are your products certified?

According to veterinary law in Czech Republic, braces and prostheses do not fall under the category of veterinary (medical) devices and therefore do not have specific veterinary certification. However, all the materials we use in the manufacture of our devices are the same as those used in human prosthetics and orthotics. These materials are subject to very strict standards and have health certifications. This ensures that our products are safe and of high quality. Technical data sheets for our products can be found on our website here.
